  1. These are great. I especially like the tea bowl with the sea green interior and the ship cups. Do you mind sharing how you glaze and fire them? Is it high fire? Reduction? Do you layer glazes or use underglaze or engobe for the patterns? I'm really fascinated by these. Thanks for posting!

  2. Hey! Thank you. I apologize for the delayed response. I am a student and have been busy wrapping up my semester's finals. Thank you for your comment. For these pieces, all except the sea green cup, I used terra-cotta clay, electric fired to I believe cone 4, but I'm not confident in my memory on that number. For the designs I actually layered slips and/or underglazes for the bisque and then used a clear glaze for the second firing. All the designs are hand painted and incorporate the use of stencils - my favorite for clean lines!

I will have my new series posted shortly. Take a look...they are all done with a similar process of patterns and designs.

As far as the sea green cup, it was actually fired in a wood kiln. It was one glaze, the same on the inside and out, and because of it's placement in the kiln, the salt we threw in, and yes, reduction, the colors are all varied. It always amazes me when it does that.
